It is week two of sugar. No weight lost. In fact, I gained the pound BACK then lost it again this week. ANNOYING! There are a couple things that I have been thing about concerning this "diet": #1. When I lost 8 pounds in a week doing this, I was in high school, with a young metabloism, and weights class, soccer practice/games, and cheerleading practice/games almost every day! That makes a HUGE difference. #2. I don't exercise now...except for chasing Riley, carrying him, etc. I do not go to the gym, or jog, or anything like that. Before a million people tell me, I do know that working out would make a difference in the weight loss, but I was really hoping that just stopping sugar would make more of a difference than one lost pound in two weeks!
My problem with working out is this: I find it hard to get up the motivation to work out and get into shape when we are going to start trying for another baby in October of this year. Why get all in to shape just to get all fat and pregnant again?! Before people say this, I also know that working out now and getting into shape would help me lose the baby weight after baby #2 a lot easier. It is just really hard to get motivated when pregnancy looms in the near future (God willing).
I am seriously considering stopping the no-sugar diet since I am not losing more weight. Annoying.
I think that I completely understand about the pregnancy issue. And I think that is why it took me a really long time to get the baby weight off with my first. I don't think I worked out at all until he was 17 months and weaned. Then when I was working out (motivation- trip to Mexico), I got pregnant and then had a miscarriage on said trip to Mexico, on Mother's Day. That sucked. I was so afraid that the little progress that I had made, the 9 lbs or so that I lost in the months leading up to Mexico, would hop right back on. They didn't, though. I think mostly because it was summer with an almost 2 year old and I was in the habit of occasionally working out. Anyway, then, when we weren't trying, I got pregnant again. (Wyatt) No. I didn't work out while pregnant (unless vomitting counts). Fast forward to when Wyatt was 3 months old (last summer). I join a gym, with great and not very expensive childcare. I start taking classes 3ish days a week. It has been 8 months and 18 lbs (I think I am now just slightly below my lowest weight in my pregnancy, since I lost weight both times). The thing that I forgot is how good it feels to work out. I never leave the gym thinking that I wish I hadn't showed up. I am only halfway there and it has taken a lot of hard work, but I think that it has been good for all of us. My sons have learned to have better social skills, and I get the chance to miss them for an hour. Do what feels right, but know that feeling better and being less stressed will be good for you getting and being pregnant. (Sorry for the rambling)
ReplyDeleteThe healthy weight loss speed is a pound a week. Just so you know.

Yeah I've heard that it takes 30 weeks for any weight loss to be real... otherwise it's probably just water weight, or weight you are guanteed to gain back.
ReplyDeleteBut anyways, I haven't really lost that much since dropping sugar either- about 4 pounds. Ofcourse I'd like it to be more, but that's not the whole reason why I dropped sugar.
Also, maybe the peanutbutter and honey trick has a lot of calories in it, even though it is natural.
Also also, I wasn't able to really really start excersizing until about 2 years after my LAST baby. I think it takes that long for your body to fully recover from the nutrient loss caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding. Not to mention how hard it is to find time to excersize when you have a baby. If you have any alone time, excersizing isn't how you want to spend it. Thankfully, I can take my kids to the gym with me now because they can entertain themselves. So don't be hard on yourself- you're just at that stage of life. I think the women that start excersizing 6 weeks after giving birth aren't normal- they're celebrities with nannies.
Sorry- I meant to say 60 days, and I don't know why I typed 30 weeks.
ReplyDeleteThe calories thing with peanut butter is a good point, but I only have a tablespoon with about that much honey (usually less) mixed in per day. So HOPEFULLY that won't keep my weight on!!!!!! :)
