Craft post!

I interrupt these not so regular blog posts with a craft post! I have so many half finished crafts and craft ideas, that I had to post the one I actually have finished lately. :) I made a nice, fancy earring holder. BORING, you may be thinking, but I am actually really happy with how it turned out! I have been looking at all the great ideas on Pintrest lately, if you haven't checked out the site you really should, and found several ideas for earring holders. I was in desperate need of one, so I took notice. There were wires strung across old frames, which I liked, and my favorite, a beautiful silver radiator cover that had been placed in a picture frame. This idea turned out to be pretty spendy, and what I liked about the radiator cover was that it looked like lace, so I went to Joanne, bought some lace, bought a cheap  but nice looking frame. Then...

Your lace needs to have holes big enough for earring backs to fit through. You don't want to poke holes into your fabric over and over. It will pull and start to look nasty.

Took out the glass and began hot gluing the lace into the frame...

This will ruin your manicure, and burn your fingertips, so be prepared! *Tip: Plug in the hot glue gun until the glue melts, but itsn't really hot. It is a lot easier to work with. Plug back in to warm up as needed.

Stretch lace taunt across the frame, as well as from top to bottom.

Hot glue picture hanging wire to the frame...

Hot glue foam squares to all 4 corners of the frame (there needs to be space from the wall for the earring backs)...

Ta da!! Ugly from the back...

...Beautiful from the front!

Hanging in my closet with some of my awesome earrings, some of which I had forgotten about since I couldn't see them in the jumble that is my jewlery box.

Up close. Since my wall is beige, and the lace is white, it doesn't stand out as much as I would like. I am planning on putting a pretty colored, but plain, piece of scrapbooking paper behind it, so you can see the lace better.

There you have it! I was so thrilled, that I made them as Christmas presents for each of the girls' who I was in charge of for Christmas (we choose names in our family), as well as some friends. Beauty and function. You can't beat that! :)

  1. Very cute! I like it! :) My mom was talking about making one for me for my birthday--I'll have to let her know that you posted about this.

    Love you!
