Spain Trip #2

Day 4 (Oct. 7)
The day started out walking around the Plaza Cervantes again. It's really nice there. While there, we met one of Matt's teachers from college, Christina, and spent some time with her catching up.

Riley spent a lot of time that day doing this with his arms and walking around like that. Silly goose :)

We saw my favorite house. I LOVE IT!

I love this face!

In the evening, we went back to Madrid to meet one of Matt's friends who studied abroad in Loveland when she was in high school, Alejandra. We had dinner with her at a cute little place. They were so sweet to Riley there! In Spain, they don't really have kids menus, kids seats, etc. That meant that most of the time, there was nothing for him to eat except bread and crackers, which to be honest is about all he will eat at home too. :) He had to sit in his stroller a lot, but he was pretty good about that. At this restaurant, they specially made him a cheese sandwich with fries (which he ate A LOT of in Spain!).

He was pretty pooped on the bus home! Right after we took this picture, the bus driver made an angry announcement that whomever was taking pictures needed to stop immediately and no further pictures were allowed on the bus. That was pretty funny! We also ended up getting on the wrong bus that night and spent an extra hour or so getting home! It was funny, exhausting, and frustrating. On the last bus to get home, the driver even stopped the bus for a good ten to fifteen minutes to sweep it out while we waited and watched!

Day 5 (Oct. 8)
We rented a car (FYI: Driving in Spain/Europe is CRAZY! They are out of control drivers out there. But more on that in a different blog!!) and headed for Valencia first thing in the morning. Riley enjoyed his first Kit Kat bar, and we saw a lot of the bulls that they have periodically over the country.

It was a long drive, but worth it!

Our hotel ended up being wonderful! We didn't know what we were going to get because we booked online. It was amazing. Very modern and clean, and 4 stars! (Silken Hotel)

Day 6 (Oct. 9)
This was a very full and fun day! We headed to Oceanografico, the biggest aquarium in the world. I was so looking forward to this because I had seen a documentary about it on TV. It was very cool and state of the art, but we couldn't quite figure out how it was considered the biggest.....hummmmm. They are known in Valencia for their modern architecture. I am sure you can see why.

Getten eaten. :(

Checking out the seals.

Boy, was it HOT that day! Riley really enjoyed a gelato!

There were so many great creatures there. My favorites were the Beluga whales! We also accidentally got to see the mating habits of the walrus. Not pretty. We moved on pretty quickly! :)

Family time!

Cool dude!

After a long, hot day at the aquarium, we went back to the hotel for a little rest.

Then we went to the beach! Riley has no fear and loves the water!

  1. My favorite is the picture of the two of them chillin on the bed. That is a very "real" moment.
